Pretty colours at dawn.
For the longest time, it had been a field of frustration, as the ground grew lumpy and marshy, and small mammals built nests and created hillocks, making mowing a chore. At times, flooding occurred, and it became a field of the impossible, as there was simply no way to play in the field during the rainy season.
Now, the dreams of soccer playing are becoming possible again, as it was filled up and tilled, with massive trucks and bulldozers in turn.
The children saw the tilling of the land, and asked, “Are we planting rice now?”
With the elevation of the land and drainage channels to be built at the sides, the land will become a field of dreams again.
And when the rains come, and the grass grow green, the sound of running feet and children’s laughter will be heard on the field once more.
