Gardening Class
It’s Life Skills period for Grade 7, and this time, they are doing gardening in the school garden.
Teacher Saroeun is explaining and giving directions.
Hi there, Teacher Saroeun!
The boys are always game for a photo op. How tall they have grown! They are young men now.
Hoeing and loosening the soil.
Tending and pulling weeds.
Sun and fresh air - a welcome change from the classroom and books!
In no time, the garden will be planted, and good things will grow out of the ground.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. - 1 Corinthians 3:6
Sunny Day
Such a beautiful day at Kampong Speu, overlooking the assembly area and green fields from the level 4 classrooms.
Perfect weather for a soccer game in the late afternoon.
The school fields are surrounded by mango trees - the remanants of a mango grove that once occupied the place, before the school was built.
In the summer months, there will be fresh mangoes to be plucked and eaten. Crisp and green, Cambodian-style.
Recess Games
There’s a fun new game going on during recess and in the early mornings before the start of school.
Slam! The cards topple.
Looks like some scissors-paper-stone action going on.
Definitely riveting and attracting quite a crowd by now.
Wall Murals
A big THANK YOU to the students of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, School of Media and Design for this beautifully painted wall mural to brighten up the school compound.
First Day of School
Lively chaos and excited chatter ensures on the first day of school, as the new Grade One students are being sorted into the correct classes.
This is the beginning of a 9-year journey for most of them with GTIS. May these coming years be a blessed time of growth in knowledge, wisdom, maturity, and personhood for all of them, a bright future of the nation of Cambodia.
Once the students are properly sorted into their correct classes, it’s off to class!
Parents' Orientation
On 4th October, an orientation was held for the parents of the incoming Grade 1 students. It was a time for them to get to know the staff who would be teaching their children, as well as vice versa. Apart from a short welcome introduction and briefing, there was also time for a fun icebreaker game of musical chairs! For a split moment, amidst the smiles and laughter, everyone felt like children once more.
